A meteorological office specified under International Civil Aviation Organization procedures to maintain watch over meteorological conditions within a defined area or along designated routes or portions thereof for the purpose of supplying meteorological information, in particular, meteorological warnings.

A meteorological watch office may be an independent office or may be part of a main meteorological office (MMO) or dependent meteorological office. In the United States, this office is either a National Center for Environmental Prediction (an independent office) or a Warning and Forecast Office (an MMO).
