buoyancy frequency

In a continuously stratified fluid, the natural frequency of the vertical oscillation of fluid parcels.
It is also called the Brunt–Väisälä frequency. Explicitly, the squared buoyancy frequency is

in which g is the acceleration due to gravity and ρ(z) is density as a function of height z.
