convective term

From Glossary of Meteorology
(Or advective term.) Any term of the form V · ζ where V is the velocity field, is the del-operator, and ζ is any field, vector, or scalar.

Thus, for example, ams2001glos-Cex08 is a convective acceleration. These are the nonlinear terms in Eulerian expressions for the rate of change of the dependent variables.
