Mean of the temperatures observed at 24 equidistant times in the course of a continuous 24-hour period (normally the mean solar day from midnight to midnight according to the zonal time of the station).

Any function of time f(t) is periodic with period t if f(t) = f(t + τ) for all times t, where τ is the smallest number for which this equality holds.
