radar meteorology

From Glossary of Meteorology
The study of the atmosphere and weather using radar as the means of observation and measurement.

One of the branches of physical meteorology, it shares much in common with cloud physics and, more generally, atmospheric remote sensing. For essays on the history of radar meteorology and research reviews, see Atlas (1990).
